Artist's Comments

In sketch, he looked a lot more child-like in the face, but I couldn't convey that when I started painting... =/ So now he just looks damn creepy.
Ah well, so this just turned out as something speedy. I like it anyway, it was mostly for the colors and trying to get that texturized feel of it =) (and I love these classical motives, even if he looks damn creepy and the anatomy is off)
I like the cloud and wings the most, I also spend an enourmous time on his mouth..but... meh.

Enjoy =)

This is really unique. It is a little creepy but in someways that just makes it easier to relate to. The classical version of angles is that of flowing locks of hair, beautiful wings and only the hands and face showing, if you're lucky, out of masses of silk. While I can admire that style it puts me too much in mind of old art galleries and grave yards. This doesn't.

The wings are real, I can see them being used but the blend of colours; from downy brown to tropical green blue, reminds me of the Birds of Paradice. That in turn reminds me of the tropics, warm sun, blue seas and lush jungles. (Considering it's summer time here and we have wet grey clouds and freezing weather in the south, that is a wonderful connection.)

The face does resemble that of a child and the pose hints at it as well. It's as if the character is considering mischief and fun but something about the eyes and the expression of the face makes it seem like the soul within the childish body is much, much older. This little one has seen many things, both bad and good and understands the value of laughter as well as the problems that the future holds.

Thank you so much for missing out on the hair. Every single angle always has perfect flowing hair and cherubs are normally the worst of the lot with sweet little ringlets aranged in soft little hair styles. Without that, this angle just seems more... human I suppose. I mean it's a more believeable character. I can see this as a guardian angle, not perfect but wise and well versed in the world and it's trials.

Lovely little image!

Every single time I get absolutley astounded by the length of the comments you make. How can you devote so much time into... oh, I'm just so glad that you are showing me the love! n_n

I must say, that I have not put so much thought into it, as you have drawn from this, but I'm glad you have all the same, I love getting responses of what others can get from the stuff I make.

But on his wings you have hit it. I refused to make another pair of white wings, and I like the connection of angel wings to everyday birds. I think it's sweet that you put a 'normal' thing in a devine connection, as many of the classics did it, also with butterfly wings (:

I thank you enormously for your time!

Interesting and new....

For me at least!

I love the wings... simply love them! They are so great both in form and colors!
The clouds are great as well :)

The body of the child is a little off yes, but I don't think it does it in a wrong way. The whole of the piece makes it very unique to you!

And damn after reading :iconslashslashx: comment to this work of art, then it is impossible to say anything more because she is so right! And I agree with you Lene that it is a bliss someone gives the time to make such comments!

This painting will be remembered! ;)

I really (as always) love the wings  And the angel itself is really well done. You know who that baby reminds me of though? Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins. I'm not sure why.

Anyways it's not creepy and it's pretty awesome so :) Good job.
